国内産（香川県丸亀市周辺）の竹の骨を使用し、1本1本が職人さんの手により仕上げられた純国産品の手づくりうちわです。 丸亀市は江戸時代初期から続く、生産量や形の多様さなどを誇る日本一のうちわの産地です。
丸亀うちわは平成9年に、国の伝統的工芸品に指定されております。
耐水性・耐腐性・耐久力を持たせるために、渋柿を発酵させた液（柿渋）を塗って仕上げています。柿渋のにおいが残っていますが、年数がたつにつれて、においもとれ、色に深みが出てきます。
