Kowari are made by splitting a normal bone in harf to make it thinner and more supple, and is packed with techniques limited to only a small number of artisans.
This is made by a traditional craftsman with all his heart. Marugame City, the largest Uchiwa-producting district in Japan, is famaus for its amount of production and variation of design since the Edo period. In 1997, Marugame Uchiwa were registered as Japanese Traditional Crafts by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
