一つ一つ、伝統工芸士の手によって丁寧に仕上げられたこのうちわは、丸亀市の豊かな技術と伝統に支えられています。日本一の生産量を誇る丸亀市は、江戸時代からうちわの生産が活発で、アートとしても楽しめる丸亀うちわは、平成9年に国の伝統的工芸品としての地位を確立しています。

“MU157 Marugame Uchiwa Vegetable Paper 'Igusa'” showcases a design that utilizes eco-friendly “vegetable paper,” made from parts of discarded vegetables and plants. This charming uchiwa not only helps cool you down during the summer heat but also represents a sustainable choice for environmentally-conscious consumers.

Made with care by skilled traditional craftsmen, this uchiwa reflects the rich tradition and craftsmanship of Marugame City, renowned for its long history in fan production. With the largest output in Japan, Marugame has been producing these exquisite designs since the Edo period. In 1997, Marugame Uchiwa was registered as Japanese Traditional Crafts by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
